Jes is working with Michaela Crimmin, Head of Arts at the RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) and Kathryn Standing, Arts Manager at Visiting Arts, to develop an international residency programme with Clare Cottage near Peterborough.
Clare Cottage is the birthplace and home of John Clare (1793-1864). He is widely regarded as one of the greatest of the English poets and lived in the village for his first forty years.
The cottage opened in July 2009 and is an environmental, educational centre which aims to enrich people's knowledge of the lyrical and scientific wonder of the countryside. The residency programme is due to begin in the spring of 2010.
firstsite, the visual arts organisation in Colchester (also in the east of England) is a partner in the project.
